Gaming Meets Ethereum To Deliver Zero House Edge, Trust To Online Casinos – Aleo and Fort have partnered to bring zero-knowledge proof solutions to blockchain games in hopes of encouraging low-power transactions in blockchain games.

San Francisco-based Alio started in 2019 and recently raised $200 million to build a platform for private blockchain-based applications with backing from investors Cora Management LP and SoftBank Vision Fund 2.

Now it will partner with blockchain game infrastructure company Forte, which recently raised $725 million, to include Aleo’s zero-knowledge proof technology to dramatically expand its ability to fuel a blockchain-based economy in new and existing video games.

The Different Types Of Erc Standards Used For Video Games

Fort will leverage Aleo’s scalable architecture to unlock new depths of gameplay and create a more inclusive and immersive gaming ecosystem. Fort already uses Aleo’s technology to create, transfer and trade non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for in-game items within several in-game economies in an existing, real world use case.

The Forte platform allows developers to create and manage games using a token-based economy that’s easy to engage with players and fan communities, playing an older title or a new blockchain-based game. By integrating Aleo’s powerful Layer-1 scaling solution into its already extensive technology arsenal, Forte gives developers the freedom and autonomy to create in-game economies, improve user experience for customers, and scale digital asset transfers.

“Aleo’s platform gives Fort access to the next generation of scaling solutions powered by zero-knowledge cryptography, and we look forward to combining their technology to unlock the potential of all types of cryptocurrencies in the gaming community.” In a statement. “At Fort, our goal is to expand the gaming universe and bring the power of blockchain to new audiences. Working with Aleo will help us achieve this.”

What Is Gamefi & How Does It Impact Blockchain Games

Using zero-knowledge cryptography in a novel architecture known as “rollup” for multiple transaction batches, Alio Forte can support the high number of microtransactions integral to the gaming ecosystem.

This would be difficult or impossible to replicate with other technologies, Wu said. As a fully private and fully programmable platform, Alio gives developers the freedom to build next-generation decentralized apps (dApps) and allows real-world use cases to define the next-generation web, the company said.

Alio is the first developer platform for building fully personal, scalable and efficient applications. Using zero-knowledge cryptography, Alio enables smart contract execution off-chain to enable a variety of decentralized applications that are private and can perform thousands of transactions per second.

Built on an open, public blockchain, Aleo brings all the flexibility of Ethereum but with a more scalable architecture where miners don’t have to replay every transaction, but only verify their correctness. Ahead of their mainnet launch next year, Aleo launched a successful incentivized testnet, with over 10,000 participants downloading and running a snarkOS node on Aleo’s network. Aleo has 45 employees.

How The Merge Opens Up Ethereum To Sharding And Massive Scalability

To understand the importance of Alio, you need a basic understanding of blockchain, a transparent and secure digital ledger that uses a network of computers to verify the authenticity of a piece of data on a computer. If the distributed and immutable ledger verifies that the data is the same on that network, then the data is verified.

Blockchains like Ethereum have become popular for hosting blockchain games with nonfungible tokens (NFTs), which use blockchain to verify unique digital items in games. But those blockchains consume a lot of energy when they use the network to verify every little detail in a game, like who defeated a boss or won a match.

Wu noted that Fort makes a lot of sense for blockchain games using smart contracts or programs on the Ethereum blockchain.

“The fundamental challenge of doing this kind of rich chain logic is that you’re blocking the network for everything,” Wu said. “And so the value proposition for what we bring to the table is fundamentally using a technology called zero-knowledge proof.”

He added, “It’s a form of cryptography that basically allows for verifiable computation. It means that an application runs a piece of code and you offer a proof that this result came from that code. That magic basically allows you to shortcut and fast track. A ton of steps that you would otherwise run the network for you.

By doing this, the game can use the company’s own servers to do things like create in-game items instead of running on the blockchain in a way that consumes a lot of power and costs. Wu says you could take a complex argument, like fighting a boss, and play out the entire battle between your character and the boss — but do it off the blockchain instead. It uses less computing power and energy, but may be less secure.

The game company can create a complete log, or a complete transcript of what happened throughout the process and provide the final results with evidence. The proof is sent to the blockchain and the network that verifies the transaction on the blockchain can verify the proof. If this is analyzed mathematically, it concludes that you actually played this boss fight. In other words, it can verify the accuracy of data without activating the computer host on the blockchain network.

The game company can then avoid replaying the entire set of events that occurred and simply accept the network’s final result.

“This is a little cryptographic magic trick that we use,” Wu said. “And at least in the case of Forte, the value is making these types of games but also extends to all aspects of the game. Partners allow for player journeys, user stories, different types of events, and proof of authenticity to the game company.

Partners send that proof to the network with the final result so that it can be recorded on the blockchain. Aleo has developed its own Layer 1 blockchain to host such technology, as have others such as Dapper Labs with Flow Blockchain. But Alio implements a multi-chain ecosystem.

“We want this kind of technology and all the truth to be available on other Layer 1 blockchains,” Wu said.

This enables players to take a blockchain asset and transfer it from one blockchain to another, as blockchains like Ethereum and Solana allow you to verify these proofs.

“The zero-knowledge proof techniques we use allow you to sell some of that computational resource on-chain for faster validation,” Wu said. “And so what you normally do in the chain is run every single program from Genesis to the present and verify it. In this model, you have to do that. But instead of actually rewriting the computation, basically you run a proof, you check every Proofs for state transitions. And so the difference is that using a proof to test a proof takes about 15 milliseconds instead of 500 milliseconds or more.

You can’t completely avoid computing costs, but you can support more transactions because the network can check more transactions at the same time as before, Wu said.

“For a company like Forte, or for any game developer who makes Forte, the great thing is that right now, Ethereum limits what you can write as in-game logic because the network has a certain time limit. It’s actually a gas limit,” Wu said. But in our case, you can write programs of unlimited size You can write programs that take you a minute or an hour to run. You can run it locally on a machine and do a proof of it. The network will check the proof. “

That’s how time- and energy-intensive things like blockchain can keep up with the real-time nature of games, Wu said. The developer will place the initial state of the game on the blockchain. Players will then interact with the chain and updates will be broadcast to the blockchain.

“Our value proposition is that we can reduce the energy consumption of running calculations and reduce overhead,” Wu said.

“It’s the only system on the market today that actually creates an entire blockchain that uses zero proof of knowledge at its core,” Wu said. “The reason Fort really likes this approach over others is that we can essentially ensure the cryptographic security of all application state because these proofs apply a cryptographic security to the computation. It gives you computational integrity.”

“What sets us apart from other Layer 1 blockchains is that we have support for privacy,” Wu said. “It’s very easy to write a chess game in Ethereum. The board is publicly visible to everyone and the price is in the strategy you think is off-chain. But if you
